Peoples Natural Gas is working once again to educate customers on the availability of Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grants, an important resource providing assistance with winter heating bills to everyone in need, especially those returning home from active duty and reestablishing their lives.
For many veterans, the end of active duty means the beginning of a new fight – for benefits, housing, and a chance to rebuild their lives.

- Veterans make up 33 percent of Pittsburgh’s homeless population
- One in four Veterans in Allegheny County is living with a disability
LIHEAP is a federally funded program administered by the Pennsylvania department of public welfare (DPW) that helps income-eligible families pay winter heating costs. Customers are encouraged to apply online through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Access to Social Service website (COMPASS) at www.compass.state.pa.us or by calling 1-866-827-1281
LIHEAP Assistance will be available starting November 2.

Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the Veterans Leadership Program which provides essential housing, employment and vital support services to eligible local Veterans, service members and their families. Peoples Gas is a proud employer of U.S. Veterans.
